Sequim Rare Plants, Successful Seed RaisingSuccessful Seed RaisingAlthough we sell plants and not seeds, the information offered on this page is for anyone wanting help with how to get seeds to germinate. It is a fascinating and not always easy endeavor. The pages of this brochure are best read on a large screen or monitor rather than on the smaller screen of a cellphone. When you "mouse over" each of the images, a larger easy-to-read version should pop up on the screen. The pages are not as crisp and clear as we would like, however considering that the size of the original brochure was small at 4 inches by 6 inches, and that the low quality of paper hasn't aged well, this will have to do. In times past, Thompson and Morgan sent a copy of the brochure with every seed order. It contains lots of valuable information. For instance, the paragraph numbered 15 on page 5 that discusses double dormancy. You'll have a difficult time finding a better, concise guide than this. There isn't any copyright on the brochure, so it can be shared freely. Many plants have two names, their familiar name and their scientific name. These pages mostly use the scientific names. If you can't think of a plant's scientific name when you're trying to look something up here, Googling the name you know will usually lead to the scientific name. |
