The flowerheads reach to only one and a half feet or so, beginning in early summer. It is important not to allow this variety to dry out too much. It can be truly ever-blooming from June to September when watered regularly. 'Lightning Bug' is an introduction of Xera Plants, a wholesale grower in Sherwood, Oregon, that is making many choice plants available to Northwest gardeners. USDA Zones 6 - 9.
