![]() Click here to visit our Main Plant List page for current availability of this plant common name: miniature ivy height: growing to several feet tall Light requirements: sun or full shade; its growth will be more compact and dwarf in stronger light than in shade Soil requirements: undemanding; well drained Water requirments: average Growth habit: vining; can be trained into a small bush or even into a small bonsai How to propagate: tip cuttings at anytime from spring to fall Leaf type: three-pointed small leaves of dark green Ways to use it: it is better to grow it in a pot than in the ground; in the ground it may eventually overwhelm whatever is is planted on Special characteristics: if it is kept in an especially small pot the leaves will be their smallest, and without much effort on your part will likely grow into an interesting shape that is suitable for a cascading or semi-cascading bonsai This ivy has extremely teeny, tiny leaves. The leaves are three-lobed and solid green. During winter the leaves darken and become shaded in a reddish tinge. There is a thirty acre estate on the British Isles named Spetchley Park, three miles from Worcester, where it likely originated in 1962, although I do not know the details. Winter hardy to USDA Zone 5. |
