This seaholly has glossy green leaves with white veins. The flowerheads are more gray than blue, small at about the size of green peas and come on short stems of twelve to eighteen inches tall. What is more striking about the flowers are the very large, pointed spines surrounding the base of the flowers. They are colored silvery gray. Their attractive leaves are evergreen. A plant will grow into a slowly widening clump over several years. Like the other sea hollies listed here, it develops a thick taproot. Hardy in USDA Zones 5 - 9.
