Stacked rocks at Bellevue Botanic Garden. Bellevue Botanic Garden is in the city of Bellevue, Washington, not too far from Seattle. The height of the tallest stack is just over six feet. Lower stacks like this have been offered for sale at nurseries in the Pacific Northwest in the last couple of years. Are they too artificial looking? Good question. Some artifice can be found in most gardens. For me the answer is, "yes." One huge stone or rock, for me, would be better than this. You know even though you cannot see it, that the rocks have to be drilled and have a rod running up through the centers. Sometime down the road when they become "old hat," the Garden will probably dispose of them. Instead of that I hope they could be relocated elsewhere in the Garden, and left to grow a mantle of green moss or gray lichen. |
