The flowers of this are a rich color of purplish red. The leaves are green and cream. Plant it where the drainage is good. And give it as much sun as possible. It will grow in some shade, but the best flowering will be in full sun. It does best with regular watering before and during its spring bloom. Later in the season it can take some drought. We recommend lightly shearing it as the flowering is winding down to prevent it setting seeds and to keep it from becoming leggy. Be sure not to cut it back too much, into leafless stems. If some leaves aren't kept when trimming, the plant will likely not survive. Cold hardy to USDA Zone 3. |
